The First Night

The first night of detox was interesting.  I was pleasantly surprised that I had no problem getting to sleep.  I do not even remember my head hitting the pillow.  I was out.  I haven't slept well since the birth of my second child so sleep like this was very welcome.

However, I woke up at 1:00 am with some awful cramps.  The cramps turned into an experience similar to food poisoning and lasted for about a half hour.  To be honest, it was quite frightening.  But, it left as quickly as it came.  I believe my body is using spared energy from a resting digestive system to pull out stored toxins.  The elimination of these toxins was making me sick.

I do have some surprising news!  When your body is full of inflammation and your "filter" needs to be changed, you may experience an allergy or visible skin rash.  I started having a reaction to gold jewelry.  I have been fighting this reaction for several months.  It has completely disappeared!  I am having a hard time believing this.  But, it is true.  I am going to watch closely to see if anything returns but as of today it is gone.

I have lost 2.5 lbs from the first day of detox.

  1. I am really enjoying your blog! Nice to know I'm not going through it alone! I've been hungry. No other side effects. I too am drinking (decaf The Republic of Tea) green tea throughout the day. As well as 4 quarts of purified water (we had the Kinetico system installed last summer, the water tastes great!). I forgot to weigh myself but will have to remember to do that tomorrow.

I made a big batch of black bean soup and Pioneer Woman's Pasta Sauce with organic tomatoes and beef. Kids are enjoying it and tomorrow will be here before we know it! Keep busy and out of the kitchen!
